According to the latest studies, a large number of companies plan to invest in Artificial Intelligence in the coming years as there is current evidence that companies that bet more decisively on AI are leading their sectors of activity.

The advantages of introducing this combination of algorithms so that machines have the capacity to act like humans are evident and everyone is talking about efficiency in processes, differentiation of competition and the generation and start-up of new businesses and services.

Companies from different sectors have jumped on the bandwagon of robotics, delivery, banking and insurance, among others, are already underway different projects that are bringing interesting improvements to their areas.

It is clear, therefore, that AI is not an option for these companies or a fashion, but a step that companies, regardless of the sector to which they belong, will have to take.

Multiple and infinite applications

The optimization of resources when automating processes is one of the greatest attractions of AI-based systems, since, with them, it is possible to forget about routine tasks and enhance the most creative areas of the company, which leads to an improvement in the productivity, while offering an improvement in decision making by spending more time on tasks of greater value and strategic.

Predictive systems, applicable in a very advantageous way in the area of sales and stock management; risk prevention, incident resolution or fraud detection in the banking and insurance areas; their application in the field of health and medical diagnostics or in customer service, an area especially benefited by the possibilities offered by chatboxes, which allows automating processes and improving customer satisfaction are just some of the possibilities that Artificial Intelligence has in these different sectors.

A good example and company model to follow can be found in the delivery sector with the Just Eat platform, which uses a smart algorithm so, from the customer's location, offer you a list of nearby restaurants that deliver to your address and sorts them by order of relevance based on previous orders placed by users and their valuation. Add to this an analysis of the data available on the platform such as repeat orders, delivery time, among others, and this provides greater visibility to the restaurants with the best service. In addition, it has recently announced a new improvement for the customer experience, based on the possibility of ordering through voice commands through Amazon's virtual assistant, Alexa.

The situation of AI in Spain

On March 4th the days 'Spanish Strategy R+D+I in Artificial Intelligence were held at the Palacio de Congresos de Granada in which the report of Strategy for Artificial Intelligence in R+D+I prepared by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities was presented to the media.

This report elaborates on the need to prioritize actions to various sections on Artificial Intelligence, among which the priority to establish strategic areas where R&D&I activities in AI are to be developed.

In addition, two major areas are identified: AI for the Economy (Public. administration, education, health and intelligent territories) and IA for society (Connected Industry 4.0, Natural Resources and energy, security and Tourism and creative industries).

It is worth mentioning the most relevant AI technologies in each of these areas, highlighting the role of language technologies, intelligent prediction systems, machine learning and computer vision.
